It turns out that the Roman emperor many centuries ago heard the news from Mary Magdalene that Jesus Christ had risen.

Since it was impossible to come to the emperor without some gift, she brought him a chicken egg as a symbol of life. The head of the Roman Empire did not believe in the resurrection and said that the egg would sooner turn red than what Mary said would turn out to be true. And suddenly the egg turned red at one point.

After such a miracle, a tradition arose to decorate and paint Easter eggs. According to believers, this symbolizes true faith in God.

Easy ways to decorate eggs

The usual coloring of a chicken egg in a different color. There are many options for coloring an Easter egg.

Natural dye for eggs for Easter using decoctions, tinctures and drinks:

– coffee, tea – brown;

– violet – purple;

– violet combined with lemon juice – lavender;

– cranberries – soft pink;

– blueberries – soft blue;

– turmeric – bright yellow.

The easiest way is to dye the eggs with onion skins. There should be a lot of such natural dye, so it is better to take a 1.5 liter saucepan and fill it completely. Put the onion skins in a saucepan, pour in water, bring to a boil, carefully place the eggs in the broth and boil them for 10 minutes in the broth – the longer the eggs are kept in the skins, the darker the color (from light yellow to dark brown).

The traditional way to color Easter eggs with thread.

For such a case, you need new cotton threads. They should be wrapped around an egg. Then dip the future dyeing in warm water and put it on gas. The fire should be very small. To give the threads more color, you can add a small amount of vinegar to the water. After 15-20 minutes of cooking, the eggs should be removed and immersed in cold water for another 20 minutes. When the time is up, they can be removed, unwound and gently blotted with a napkin. Various natural fabrics are used in the same way. The condition here is that the pieces of fabric are new and never washed.

Degrease the eggs before painting – then the paint will lie flat; for this you should wash the eggs with soap and warm water, or wipe them with alcohol; Before you dip the eggs in boiling water with dye, let them brew at room temperature for 30-60 minutes, and add 1 tablespoon of salt to the water during cooking; For brightness and saturation of the color, a small amount of vinegar can be added to the water with the dye; Ready-made, already colored eggs can be wiped with a cloth soaked in vegetable oil – they will become “lacquered”; If you want not only the shell to be colored, but also the egg itself, boil them for 3 minutes, remove them, prick the shell in several places with a needle and then boil for 1-1.5 minutes in cinnamon, coriander and clove tea leaves; To make the eggs “speckled”, moisten them and roll them in dry rice, then wrap them in gauze, tie them tightly and boil them in the usual way in dye; To make colored spots on the eggs, it is enough to boil them wrapped in threads of different colors.

To get a very beautiful “marble” effect, you need to do the following: wrap the eggs in some cotton and tie them, boil in this form.

In every supermarket on the eve of the holiday you will see special stickers, glitters, ready-made patterns on adhesive tape – with the help of these simple devices, Easter eggs can be made beautiful quickly and without any effort. So by sticking stickers and dipping eggs in dyes and then removing the stickers, you can get such a wonderful result – real artistic masterpieces.

Not simple, but golden

You can make Easter symbols sparkle with all kinds of glitters, foil and gold paint. Any of the shiny or golden materials can be applied to a foam or wooden base by simply gluing it on PVA glue.

If these are Easter eggs that they want to eat later, then you can decorate them with:

golden or silver kandurin – food coloring in powder form;
edible gold leaf – sheets of the finest gold foil.

How to decorate with gilding at home:

Boil, cool and wipe the eggs dry.
Shake the raw egg white a little. It will be used as glue.
Apply a thin layer of raw egg white to the prepared surface with a brush and rub kandurin or pieces of gold leaf onto it with a dry fan brush.

Gold is an expensive decoration, but you don’t have to try to make the whole egg golden. Small golden patterns or areas that create a marble pattern also look beautiful.

If the eggs play a purely decorative role and there are no plans to eat them, then you can use ordinary acrylic paint.

simple single or multi-layer napkins with suitable illustrations;
small scissors with thin blades – manicure ones are enough;
Raw protein is the most popular type of food paste, but you can also make another one.
flat brush made of artificial bristles – natural brushes can crumble and lint will remain on the final product.

Step-by-step master class:

Cut out elements of images (flowers, birds, etc.) from napkins that will be used as decoration. Attach them and see how they lie on a rounded surface.
Prepare pasta. Shake the raw egg white with a fork to break the structure, do not beat, otherwise air bubbles will remain on the surface to be decorated after drying.
Apply beaten egg white with a flat brush and glue the top layer of the napkin with the image on it. Let dry and cover again with protein, moving the brush from the middle of the glued element to the edges.
When all the parts are glued, cover the entire surface with a finishing layer of paste and let it dry. At this stage, the work is completed.

Other binders are gelatin, starch and sugar syrup. In the first version, the gelatin is dissolved in water as indicated on the package. The starch is brewed in hot water at the rate of 2 teaspoons per 50 ml of water.

Syrup ratio: 2 teaspoons of sugar to 2 tablespoons of water. The technology for using these types is similar to the one above.

Hand-painted egg decoration

You can draw on eggshells with any writing instrument: watercolor or acrylic paint, gouache, felt-tip pens and markers, pencils, gel pens and others.

Office proofreaders are usually an alcoholic or aqueous solution of polyvinyl chloride with titanium oxide (white food coloring). This substance is not toxic and cannot penetrate the pores of the shell, so it is also often used to apply white patterns to bright dyes.

Draw images with a pencil corrector on a dry and clean surface. These can be simple geometric or floral motifs. Such a decor looks great on an unpainted brown shell.

Important! If you doubt the safety of the composition of the correction fluid, you cannot eat such Easter eggs.

You can decorate with beautiful white patterns with powdered sugar instead of a concealer. For this, it is mixed with water until a thick paste is obtained, with which patterns are applied from a pastry bag.

Decoration with threads and lace

Those who have not managed to make friends with crochet hooks can decorate with ready-made lace, braid and thread, which are easy to buy in fabric stores.

There are even a few more ways to decorate with these materials:

Round blanks are cut from wide lace and sewn together directly on the egg with a neat seam, or a bag is made in which this symbol of Easter is hidden. In this way, you can decorate simply boiled or dyed in one color, playing on the contrast of the color of the lace and the blank.
With a thin lace you can wrap the egg around, like a belt. At the crossing, the ends can simply be sewn to the lace or glued to a safe paste, for example starch. The lace connection can be hidden behind a decorative element: a beautiful button, an artificial spring flower.
With narrow ribbons you can wrap the prepared egg several times. In this case, it is not at all necessary to glue the tape over the entire length of each winding. It is enough to grab with a needle or glue at the crossing.
Threads can be used to completely decorate the entire surface. To do this, sections of multi-colored threads should be soaked in paste or sugar syrup. Then wrap the decorated shape with it, let it dry well and the decor is ready.

Decorating with lace, ribbons and threads is good because it does not take much time and you can use small leftovers and scraps that cannot be used anywhere else.

If you know how to handle a crochet hook, you can not only knit beautiful Easter souvenirs in the form of bunnies and chickens, but also decorate boiled eggs. This is much easier to do than it seems at first glance.

For work you will need:

colored cotton threads for knitting in bright colors;
a hook of a suitable number;
scissors;
satin ribbons and other decorative items;
boiled eggs – in this case, the color of their shell is not important.

Ways to decorate:

For the first method, you need to knit two identical round openwork elements. You can take a kind of round napkin as a basis. Then the knitted blanks are applied to the egg and pulled together with the same thread or satin ribbon, threaded through the holes like laces in shoes. Tie the ends with a bow. To then eat the bound Easter egg, you just need to pull the string.
For another method, you need to knit a small openwork bag in which you put a boiled egg. Just pull the open edge of the case bag with a thread, like a drawstring. To make the decoration more unusual, you can add beads and seed beads to the knitting.

According to this principle, beautiful openwork pendants can be made, only for them you need an empty shell. Then soak the finished work in sugar syrup, prepared in a ratio of 2:1 (two glasses of sugar per glass of water), and dry. Then carefully remove the shell. A knitted Easter egg, of course, cannot be eaten, but such a souvenir is certainly a beautiful gift. And if you still try to make it exclusively from threads and cotton or synthetic winter filler, then you end up with a very cute toy for a child.

This craft is somewhat more labor-intensive, but no less beautiful.

To make this craft, we need:

a plastic egg (if you do it carefully, you can use a regular chicken egg by blowing out the inside)

For further decoration, you can also take beads. We begin by wrapping the egg with double-sided tape.

Many quilling enthusiasts hold on to the idea that ordinary boiled eggs can be decorated in this way, but why? Twist the multi-colored paper strips into tight rolls, then loosen them and bend them a little so that they get the required shape (free spiral, drop, curved drop, eye or something else).
After that, paper curls must be glued with glue to the surface of the workpiece. It is not at all necessary to cover everything with patterns, you can just make a small composition in the form of a rabbit, a chicken or a flower.

Grease the ball with a thick layer of glue and start spreading the first layer of napkins.
When you are done, grease it again with glue and repeat the procedure.
Then we lay the napkins with plain white paper, cover it with glue and then again place 2-3 layers of napkins.
If you are going to make a non-hollow egg, the use of white paper is optional.
To ensure that the Easter craft is resistant to additional decor, you must have at least 8 layers of paper on the ball.
Then we wait until all the layers are dry, take a ball out of the resulting egg and decorate it with ribbons, beads and sequins.
